to Choose! |
No writing is complete without a table of contents (or so my grammar teacher told me), so here is one to keep the English majors happy and aid the searches of those who want to pick and choose what they read. It's even annotated, for your browsing pleasure! Essays What is Purim? A favorite Jewish holiday, with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Tender Revelation A midrash I wrote in 1996 for Shavuot. The Three Children An allegory on the formation of the three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Towards a Kosher Kitchen Even kashrut can be funny. Poetry Schlepping Through a Winter Wonderland This parody was inspired by the convergence of a snowstorm and my growing frustration about being Jewish and hearing Christmas music everywhere I went. So Dark is the Night This was a poem I wrote during the Dark Ages. My Dark Ages. It's a difficult poem, about a difficult time. I'd like to think I'm over it now. I could be wrong. In My Weakest Hour Originally written in response to a friend dealing with the death of a loved one, this poem is also about friendship, love, and moving on. On Writing Poetry A sort of pre-poem; writing about writing. Actually, this was what I did instead of taking notes in a class on poetry in children's literature. Reality Handbook Not a poem, really, but a series of sayings I began creating in high school. Some are funny, some are true, some I'm not sure how I knew. (Sorry for the rhyme there.) |
